Data Interoperability

← Back to Solutions

Problems we solve:

  • Data is typically stored in siloed systems with different provenances, formats, structures, and lineages
  • Modern IT systems need consistent data access in order to meet regulatory requirements and provide best-in-class service
  • In order to identify gaps and ensure quality service delivery, business leaders need access to comprehensive datasets

What we do:

  • Evaluate and make recommendations on architectural data flows for existing and proposed systems
  • Establish governance and standards for data across the enterprise
  • Normalize data to industry standards
  • Design custom solutions to meet client- and industry-specific needs
  • Conduct vendor-neutral technology evaluations, analysis of alternatives, and rapid prototyping of solutions

Impacts:

  • Better understanding of enterprise data assets as a foundation for enhanced decision making
  • Accelerated speed to compliance with regulatory mandates
  • More accurate predictive modeling

  • Electronic Health Records (EHRs): VistA, Cerner Millennium, Cerner HealtheIntent, EPIC
  • Regulations: HIPAA, CMS, and ONC interoperability mandates
  • Care quality: HEDIS, eCQM, eCDS

Technologies we use:

  • Container solutions: Docker, Kubernetes
  • Interoperability tools: HAPI, Inferno, Synthea, Symedical
  • Messaging platforms: Apache Kafka, Apache RabbitMQ, Red Panda
  • Languages: Java, JavaScript, Python

What we build or enhance:

  • Enterprise pipelines
  • Data exchange architectures
  • Data exchange specifications
  • Reference architectures
  • Interoperability documentation
  • Authorization servers
  • Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) solutions

Our Approach

The core problem of data management is that source data models often diverge as “upstream” assets are retargeted to multiple “downstream” consuming destinations. Complexity grows quickly as sources and destinations are added to the pipeline. Amida integrates legacy data storage and management systems with downstream applications. We make highly scalable data adapters that enable attachment, retrieval, transformation, and exchange. Our vendor-agnostic solutions lower the barrier to interoperability and connection.
